Guidelines for Parents - Enrollment and Playschool readiness

The ECCE scheme gives pre-school aged children up to 15 hours free playschool time per week. This is allocated as 5 sessions per week at 3 hours per session.

Some children at age 3 are more than ready to get started in playschool whereas some children take a little longer to enjoy their new independence. 5 days a week can even be too much for some 4 year olds so we ask that you consider your own child's needs carefully when you enroll them in playschool. We want them to have the most enjoyable time with us here in playschool at what is the start of their journey onto school.

For the child that isn't quite sure of new people and new surroundings, starting with fewer playschool sessions each week or starting a little later in the school year can make a huge difference to their confidence. Giving them time to slowly become familiar with playschool will allow them to greater benefit from all the fun we have at playschool including making new friends and sharing learning experiences.

Please speak with the playschool staff for further advice on how to help your child settle into playschool at their own pace.
